Why it never gets easier
Most people assume real success in our industry means dealing with less frustration, rejection, and uncertainty. In reality, the opposite is true. The most successful people often experience more of it. Why? Because they’re constantly stretching beyond what they already know, attempting things that may not work, putting their ideas in front of people who might say no, and living in a future that hasn’t arrived yet.
The good news is that these unwelcome visitors aren’t always the enemy. Frustration often means we’re growing. Uncertainty is usually a sign we’re creating something new rather than repeating the same o’l strategy. Rejection means we’ve drummed up the courage to put ourselves—and our work—up for scrutiny. The downside, of course, is that all three can trigger self-doubt, anxiety, and overthinking, whether we’re already successful or not.
Important because growth rarely feels like growth. Most of the time, it feels like frustration, rejection, and uncertainty. The goal isn’t to eliminate these unlikely companions, but to know them so well they no longer have the power to stop us—or convince us to play it safe.
