When Logic Says Yes and Your Heart Says No
There comes a moment—always does—when we’re staring down the barrel of a pivotal decision. The math checks out, the timing is right, everyone around us gives a thumbs up, and Logic is banging the gavel.
But inside, a whisper. A small, almost imperceptible voice that says, Don’t. It’s not fear. It’s not a flinch. It’s not self-sabotage. It’s your truth tapping you on the shoulder, asking if you’re really willing to pay the price for something your soul never signed off on.
We can follow the logic straight to the mountaintop and still feel completely lost once we get there. That’s yet another one of the many challenges about being an independent, creative artist-trep—we don’t live by formulas, spreadsheets, and checklists alone. Our work comes from somewhere deeper, and so must our decisions.
The trick is not to silence either voice, but to sit with both of them in your quiet space, your fortress of solitude, and let the monkey-fight play out without cheering for either side. Then listen for the one that speaks from you—not at you.
Important because eventually, the real answer will reveal itself—not like a solution, more like a knowing. You’ll feel it in your gut, not your head. That’s when you know the decision you’re about to make isn’t a logical one—it’s your truth. And while logic will keep you…logical, your truth is the only thing that will keep you sane.
