Squirming in Uncertanity
For artists & treps, the daunting presence of uncertainty can be a silent killer of dreams. It convinces us to play small, pause plans, bow to mediocrity, and second-guess the cocky confidence and bold choices that once set our hearts on fire.
In these uncertain times, it’s easy to wait it out, retreat into safety, and avoid the risks of swinging out onto the skinny branches—like we used to do.
But that fear comes at a cost: it stifles our motivation, dims our light, muffles our inspiration, and keeps us stuck in a cycle of waiting that slows our progress to a crawl.
And while uncertainty is an unavoidable companion on the rocky road to eureka, it’s often within that uncertainty that the most profound breakthroughs, connections, and growth moments occur.
Just look at the turning points and defining moments in your own life and career. I’m sure you’ll find that your big breakthroughs didn’t arrive in times of comfort or clarity. They came at a crossroads of uncertainty—after you took a risk, a pivot, or a leap into the unknown. Looking back, how many times have you said, “I didn’t know what I was doing, but it led to the best thing I ever did!”
Important because When we dance with uncertainty instead of running from it, it becomes the spark that ignites our creativity rather than the cloud that dims it. This is where magic happens. This is where the extraordinary begins. And no matter how uncertain these times become, what is certain is that magic and extraordinary are embedded in our bones.
