It’ll be just like starting over
So many folks are calling 2026 a “new beginning.” For artists and treps, there’s nothing new about it. New beginnings are our default setting.
If the music isn’t right, we cut another take. If the painting fails, we paint over it. If the business wobbles, we keep what works and scrap what doesn’t. If the writing isn’t right, we rewrite it—because writing is rewriting.
Important because our creative careers are nothing more than a nonstop series of daily upgrades, do-overs, fresh starts, and new beginnings. So while others are making resolutions for the coming year, pro artists and treps see only this week’s resolution—or today’s—which is simply another chance to improve the work, rethink the strategy, hone the craft, and nose-dive back into the deep end of the pool. Because for creatives, the deep end really isn’t that scary—it’s home.
