Desperation or Desire
For artists and treps, the line between desire and desperation is fuzzy:
Desperation has sharp edges. It feels like running out of time and smells like fear. It narrows vision, blurs choices, and breeds poor decisions. When we’re desperate, we chase results with a clenched fist and a shaky voice that screams, “I need this to work, or else!”
Desire, on the other hand, has a wider, Cinemascope lens. It’s a pull instead of a push. Desire welcomes patience, provokes clear thinking, offers hope, and produces an energy that excites. It whispers, “I want this because it matters.”
Important because moving from desperation to desire isn't as long a journey as it seems. It's a choice—a simple shift in POV that can transform the way we view everything. And in doing so, shifts the thoughts we think, the actions we take, and the goals we make.
